Biography

I have been involved in the pursuit of my art and musicianship for many years which initially started in my home town of Uniontown, Ohio, U.S.A. My serious study of the guitar progressed immediately after High School when I moved to Baltimore, Maryland to study full time with the eminent guitar teacher Ray Chester. I completed my Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Guitar Performance at The Peabody Conservatory of Music of The Johns Hopkins University. Subsequently in 1983, I was the third Guitar Instructor to be appointed at the Peabody Conservatory since the founding of the guitar programme by Aaron Shearer in 1965.

I permanently moved to Scotland in 1989 and was employed for 18 years as an Instrumental Instructor with Fife Council. I have always sustained a thriving home teaching studio. Having moved to Edinburgh in 2015, I continue to divide my time between teaching and developing my own personal musicianship with sustained and dedicated practice, performing locally and further afield in solo recitals and in concerts with other musicians and chamber/orchestral groups.
